Year 6 Weekly News: 15.03.24
Well done Year 6 for another great week!
A huge thank you and well done to all our Year 6 children, who this week, have completed their practice SATs. What’s truly been impressive, is the resilience and positive attitude children have shown across the week; they have all worked so hard and consequently, have demonstrated all the fantastic skills and knowledge they have gained throughout their time at Upton. Year 6, you're all doing an amazing job- we are so proud!
Thematic
During our Thematic learning this week, children have been exploring the Homefront during World War 2. From air raids and blackout regulations, to rationing and evacuations, our children have begun to explore the everyday realities faced by people on the Homefront. As part of our learning, we're eagerly anticipating our upcoming visit to the Ramsgate Tunnels next week. The tunnels hold a wealth of stories and secrets from World War II, offering a unique opportunity for our children to step back in time and witness first-hand how Ramsgate was impacted by the war.
Cross Country
On Wednesday, children from across the school participated in an intra- school cross country event, and we are delighted to report that our Year 6 children showcased remarkable determination and sportsmanship throughout. Our children not only gave their best efforts, but they also represented their houses with great pride and enthusiasm, demonstrating excellent teamwork, resilience, and spirit throughout- well done!
Due to Comic Relief, 'Pupil of the Week' awards will be presented during Monday’s assemblies – the Blog will be updated on Monday.
