National Poetry Day in 5R
5R really enjoyed National Poetry Day. In our English lesson, we all wrote an "I Am" poem, using the character of Bradley Chalkers from our class text There's A Boy In The Girls' Bathroom. Bradley is an intriguing and complex character with two sides to him; the "monster" that the world sees him as and the good boy, just screaming to get out. Our I Am poems were written to reflect this duality of his personality.
In the afternoon, Mr White shared some of his favourite poems, including Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes, Benjamin Zephaniah's Talking Turkeys and Michael Rosen's Chocolate Cake and Strict - by the end of the day, we were all joining in with the performance!
We have also recorded some of the poems we have written in recent weeks. The videos have been uploaded to the video sharing website Vimeo but are not public and can only be viewed by using the password - Viking
