Current affairs - the environment

This week, we have been focussing on the value of Respect and have been looking at ways we can show respect to the environment. In class, we have been focusing on four of the biggest issues which are facing this planet right now: Climate Change, Pollution, Deforestation and Wild Fires.

Your homework this week is to research a current environmental issue which interests you. To do this, you might want to start off by looking through some of the environmental news stories on the Newsround website - https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround

How you present your research is up to you. Below are just a few ideas:

  • a newspaper report on your chosen issue
  • a fact file giving details about your issue
  • a piece of persuasive writing, perhaps a speech or a letter to a local politician highlighting the issue
  • a short story with a strong focus on your issue

Remember, we are looking for a current issue, something which is in the news right now, so make sure you are watching the news, reading magazines or newspapers and exploring the internet to find out what the biggest current issues are facing the planet.

We can't wait to see what you create! Best of luck!

ps: Don't forget, you also have MyMaths homework as well as regular reading, Times Tables Rockstars and the newly introduced Spelling Shed.
