Year 5 Weekly News 18.11.22
Key Messages:
- Reminder to ensure children are reading at home and bringing in their reading records.
- Please ensure children are completing TTRs, Spelling Shed and Mymaths with their logins that can be found in their reading books.
- Please ensure children are wearing correct school uniform and shoes.
- Please ensure children are bringing in their water bottles.
Home Learning Task:
Research cocoa and fair trade. Create a leaflet explaining what fair trade is and where Cocoa is grown.
English:
This week the children have been using figurative language to describe Lila’s journey down the river in our class text The Firework Maker’s Daughter.
Next week, the children will be writing a story opening in three different ways using action, dialogue and description.
Maths:
This week in maths we have been focusing on adding and subtracting factions.
Next week, we will be moving onto to learning about adding and subtracting mixed numbers. Please ensure children are accessing TTRS to learn their times tables as this underpins everything in maths.
UBBC:
This week we have learnt about the Three Gorge Dam and the Great wall of China. We also started our learning on trade. We are really enjoying our learning on China.
Reading:
Minimum 3x a week. Reading record must be signed by an adult. Can be completed on your own or with your parents.
Spelling Shed:
Once a week – Friday to Friday.
Tasks will be completed online, with new tasks set every week.
Tasks will always follow the spellings being taught in class that week.
Times Tables Rock Stars:
Minimum 3x a week.
Can be completed on tablets, laptops or mobile phones though the app or the website.
My Maths:
Once a week – Friday to Friday.
