What a brilliant first day we have had in Year 3! The children spent the morning with their class teachers, getting to know the ways of Upton (even practising our special School Shanty!). In the afternoon, the children enjoyed Art and Computing, or Music and Swimming.

We will have our first P.E. session tomorrow so please remember to come to school in P.E. kits and a sunhat for the lovely weather.

We will start our English and maths learning groups on Wednesday. At Upton, we use the Accelerated Reader (AR) program to support reading and comprehension. Each child is assessed termly and given a personalised reading level. The Year 3 children have not yet been assessed, but we will be providing them with a book from school to practise reading at home in the meantime. These books should be coming home Friday this week with a reading record for you to record in.
