Home Learning Task:
Homework menu for Thematic curriculum is in the blog post below - please encourage children to choose something that interests them. Homework due Friday 13th October.
English:
This week children have been looking at descriptive language and visualising what the Cathedral on Eels Island might look like. They then went on to describe it using expanded noun phrases, fronted adverbials and began adding in some figurative language.
Next week, we will be focusing on character descriptions of the main characters in the text. We will be working on showing not tell emotions.
Maths:
This week in maths we have been focusing on additional and subtractions strategies and choosing the most efficient strategy for the question.
Next week, we will be moving onto to learning about multiples, primes, factors and common factors. Please ensure children are accessing TTRS to learn their times tables as this underpins everything in maths.
Thematic Curriculum:
This week in our Thematic lessons we learnt about different explorers. We focused on what they did and what they brought back or discovered.
Next week we will look at Charles Darwin's voyage to the Galapagos Islands and what he discovered. We are lucky enough to have some loan boxes with fossils coming in to support us with our learning.
Reading:
Minimum 3x a week. Reading record must be signed by an adult. Can be completed on your own or with your parents.
