Children only need to complete one task as a minimum but can choose to complete more if they wish. Please ensure children have handed in this homework as it is now overdue.
English:
This week children have been retelling the events leading up to the escape from Eels Island and falling into the ocean. They have been focusing on descriptive vocabulary and used a story mountain to organise their work.
Next week, children will be writing a newspaper report on Zoe’s reunion with her family. We will be looking at the key features of a newspaper report, hot seating and direct and reported speech. We will use oracy to deliver our news report.
Maths:
This week we have been focusing on the order of operations. We looked at BIDMAS and what this means as well as thinking of ways to help us remember the order of operations in maths.
Next week, we will be focusing on algebra and function machines and consolidating our learning.
Thematic Curriculum:
This week we have combined all of our learning to present this to parents. We researched natural selection through the story of the peppered moth and looked at inheritance. Parents were invited in to see our presentation and look at books on Thursday 12th October. It was a wonderful afternoon that saw the collaborative group work from each class. We are so proud of you all!
Next week, we will be consolidating our Thematic learning through quizzes and looking at Judaism in Britain today as part of our RE learning. Children will revise the key teachings, important places and events for Jewish people. They will understand how being a Jew shapes a believer’s daily life. We will then go on to explore famous Jewish people living today and use empathy to understand others’ feelings.
Reading:
Minimum 3x a week. Reading record must be signed by an adult. Can be completed on your own or with your parents. Please ensure that children are quizzing after they have read their books.
