World Book Day! Thursday 7th March
On Thursday 7th March we will once again be celebrating World Book Day. This year our focus will be on reading for pleasure and vocabulary. Throughout the day all the children will take part in a range of activities including a teacher reading swap; artwork; sharing books with friends and making reading recommendations.
We are celebrating World Book Day this year by asking pupils to come dressed up as a word. This is known as a vocabulary parade. It is important that your child’s costume includes a piece of card with their word clearly written on it and if possible, a ‘child friendly’ definition of the word. You could also include synonyms and antonyms as well. The children will also take part in activities where they get to share their word and explore and experiment with them. Here are some examples of words and how to represent them:
