19.04.24 Year 3 Weekly News
Welcome Back!
Let's see what we've been up to in Year 3....
English
In English this week, as always, we started with a Non-Fiction focus to lay the foundations for our text this term, The Great Chocoplot. We learnt all about chocolate and followed each process from bean to bar. We all know a lot about chocolate now and used our knowledge to create a non-fiction report.
Next week, we will begin our work on The Great Chocoplot by creating setting descriptions of the Easter Egg Island.
Maths
This week, we started our unit on angles and shapes. We learnt about acute, right and obtuse angles. Can you spot any examples of these at home or out and about this week?
Next week, will explore perpendicular and parallel lines.
Thematic Curriculum
This week has had a Personal Development focus, covering economics, e-safety and the rights of the child.
Next week, we begin our new topic, 'The Maya: The Rise and Fall', focusing on the geographical location of the ancient civilisation and the importance of farming.
Homework
- Please read with your child at least 3 times a week.
- Children should be playing Times Tables Rockstars at least 3 times a week to build their confidence and fluency with times table knowledge.
- Children each have a ZPD code to help them identify the correct books for their reading level. Once your child has read their book, they will need to complete a quiz on it before getting a new one. These quizzes can be done either in school or at home on Accelerated Reader using the log-in codes found in their reading records.
