The end of Term 5 in Year 3!
English
In English this week, we all really enjoyed finishing our text 'The Great Chocoplot' and discovering if the Chocopocolyse was indeed real. The children also completed their own narrative stories using our text as inspiration. They applied all of the English skills we have learnt so far this year to their writing.
Our English work in Term 6 will kick off with a non-fiction focus as the children create a piece of writing to convey the importance of the rainforests.
Maths
This week, we completed our unit on measure by solving real world problems using bar models.
Our first unit next term will have a focus on applying our understanding of multiplication.
Thematic Curriculum
This week, we have learnt all about Islam including the 5 pillars, the significance of Hajj and Muslim naming ceremonies.
Our Term 6 topic will be Rainforest Revealed. The children will learn all about the significance of the rainforests of the world and explore plants and their requirements for growth.
Homework
- Please read with your child at least 3 times a week.
- Children should be playing Times Tables Rockstars at least 3 times a week to build their confidence and fluency with times table knowledge.
- Children each have a ZPD code to help them identify the correct books for their reading level. Once your child has read their book, they will need to complete a quiz on it before getting a new one. These quizzes can be done either in school or at home on Accelerated Reader using the log-in codes found in their reading records.
- Spelling shed and Mathletics homework has also been set for the children to complete by next Friday.
- The Thematic Curriculum homework is now finished for this term. Well done to all the children who created excellent Maya-themed projects.
Reminders:
3R and 3Y have swimming on Mondays next term and can come to school in PE kit.
Have a great weekend!
