Termly Home Learning Task - Term 5: Tides of Change
The children have worked exceptionally hard on their homework projects this term. Here are some of the great projects we have received:
English:
In English this week we wrote a newspaper report about the opening of the first boys’ home by Barnardo, focusing on using direct and indirect speech. We also looked at how we could incorporate passive voice.
Next term our new text will link to relocation and the wildlife. We look forward to revealing it the first week back in Term 6.
Maths:
This week in maths we completed our post-unit quiz on decimal calculations and solved some problems involving a range of skills that we have learnt so far this year.
Next term we will begin by exploring 2D and 3D shapes.
Thematic Curriculum:
This week our afternoon lessons have linked to Islam and why Muhammad is important to Muslims. This helped us to reflect on our own lives and who is important to us.
Next term we will be continuing our thematic topic: Tides of Change, beginning with the history of Ramsgate and Broadstairs.
CATs
We would just like to say a HUGE well done to all of the Year 5 children who have completed their CATs this week. They all coped amazingly with the adjusted timetable and the tests themselves. They thoroughly deserve their half term.
We would like to wish all of our Year 5 Upton parents a happy and restful half term. We start back for Term 6 on Monday 3rd June 2024.
