Termly Home Learning Task - Term 1: Make Some Noise
This term in Year 4 we are exploring sound - how we hear and what sound waves look like. We would like the children to delve into the topic during their home learning by exploring one of these tasks, or a related task of their choosing. They may present their work in any way that they wish; it could be a presentation, poster, or something that they make, the possibilities are endless. This piece of work will need to be brought back into school before the last week of term. If something is physically created, please can this be brought in, or a photo stuck into books so we can celebrate the children’s success!
Please bring in any Thematic homework before the end of term.
English:
In English this week we wrote a play script for a scene in our book ‘Leon and the Place Between’. Our focus was to use brackets for stage directions and colons after names.
Next week we will be writing a narrative sequel to 'Leon and the Place Between'.
Maths:
This week in maths we explored patterns in times tables and learnt some tricks to help us with the 9 times table. We then used a range of manipulatives and pictorial representations to show the seven times tables.
Next week we will continue to explore multiplication and division by finding factors and multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100.
Thematic Curriculum:
This week we prepared for our Celebration of Learning and shared our presentations with our adults on Wednesday. On Friday, we learnt about the Jewish festival of Passover and the story behind it. We created Sedar plates, where each ingredient has a significant meaning to Jews.
Next week we will continue to learn about Jewish festivals.
