This week, the children have written narratives based on a 'mishap.' This varied from mistaken identity to accidentally setting off the fire alarm! The children focused on using dialogue in their writing and a range of sentence openers. Next week, the children will be delving into space poetry. They will be exploring, performing and writing their own space themed poems!
Maths
This week, the children have been multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000, mentally multiplying and using short multiplication. Next week, the children will be learning long multiplication using column method. They will build it, draw it and then solve the multiplication.
Thematic The children have started their new topic, 'Stargazers,' this week. They learnt about the first landing on the moon, the space race and women in space. Next week, the children will be looking at some space disasters and creating the solar system! We also have the astrodome visiting on Monday and the children will be creating some artwork based on the planets!
TTRS COMPETITION
This week, there will be a TTRS competition for the children across the school. It is against other schools across the country. Please encourage your child to participate for their times table homework next week.
Art Competition
In this term's art competition, you will get the chance to create your own Pop Art Masterpiece inspired by our artist of the term: Roy Lichtenstein!
Using Lichtenstein's style as a guide, create a work of art that uses bright colours, bold outlines, and Ben-Day dots to show an exciting scene or object from your daily life. This could be a favourite toy, a scene at school, anything that is personal to you.
The competition starts from Monday 11th November and closes Friday 20th December. Please bring all entries to Mr Mason’s art room and be sure to include your name and class on your artwork. Winners will be announced at the beginning of term 3. Good luck!
Sir Link Alot

Homework
- Please read with your child at least 3 times a week.
- All children have been given a ZPD to help them identify the correct books for their reading level. Once your child has read their book, they will need to complete a quiz on it before getting a new one. These quizzes can be done either in school or at home on Accelerated Reader using the log-in codes found in their reading records.
