Termly Home Learning Task - Term 1: Make Some Noise
This term in Year 4 we are exploring sound - how we hear and what sound waves look like. We would like the children to delve into the topic during their home learning by exploring one of these tasks, or a related task of their choosing. They may present their work in any way that they wish; it could be a presentation, poster, or something that they make, the possibilities are endless. This piece of work will need to be brought back into school before the last week of term. If something is physically created, please can this be brought in, or a photo stuck into books so we can celebrate the children’s success!
Well done to anyone who has brought in anything so far. It has been great to see diagrams of the inner ear and some fact files. We look forward to seeing more fabulous projects.
English:
In English this week we wrote a comparative setting description of Broadstairs and Tobago using expanded noun phrases. The children used some rich and exciting vocabulary to describe the beaches.
Next week we will finish our book and will be writing a non-chronological report all about Tobago.
Maths:
This week in maths we finished our unit on place value and completed the post-unit quiz. We rounded to the nearest 100 and 1000 and used our knowledge to reason and find the odd one out.
Next week we will begin our new unit on addition and subtraction.
Thematic Curriculum:
This week we continued our unit on sound and experimented on adjusting volume by using more force. We also looked at the different sections of the ear and the path of sound waves from the pinna to the auditory nerve.
Next week we will continue our work around volume.
