English:

In English this week we started our new book ‘Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx’. We met the protagonist, Marcy, and wrote a description of her using rich and vivid vocabulary.

Next week we will be completing work linked to Remembrance Day, Odd Socks Day and we will write a setting description from our text.

This week's Sir Linkalot words: after, bath, behind, child, children, wild, class, grass, pass, cold, hold, east, fast, find, kind, mind, going, gold, told, old, only, path, plant, saw, south, use, wait, watch.

Maths:

This week in maths we continued our multiplication and division unit. We began the week by using metal partitioning strategies (Distributive Law) to multiply a 2-digit number by a single digit. We also found the product of three 1-digit numbers and began writing formal methods for short multiplication.

Next week we will continue short multiplication and will look at mental division strategies.

Thematic Curriculum:

This week we have been exploring relationships, marriage and teamwork during our afternoon PSHE sessions.

Next week we will begin our Thematic topic: Walk Like an Egyptian. This will focus on Ancient Egypt. We will start by studying the Egyptian hierarchy and the importance of the River Nile.
