This week, the children have been focusing on emotive language. The children wrote an internal monologue from the perspective of our main character. They have written some fantastic pieces of writing this week! Next week, the children will be using the knowledge from this week to write a persuasive speech. They are going to focus on persuasive language alongside emotive language.
Maths
This week, the children have been learning how to read and interpret information from a line graph and table. They have asked and answered questions based various line graphs. The children understand the importance of line graphs for data purposes. Next week, the children will be learning about creating line graphs.
Thematic Curriculum
This week has been cultural capital week! The children have spent the week researching different states in America in groups. They collated information about their given state and created a top trump card with the key facts. Today, the children gathered in the hall to share their top trump cards with the year group. We ended the day by playing, 'Guess My State.' Next week, the children will be creating a piece of persuasive writing about humans impact on the environment.
TTRS COMPETITION
Year 5 are taking part in a TTRS competition across the year group. Each learning group will compete against each other to win the top spot! Extra rewards include extra breaktime and being named champion! Please encourage your children to participate in this excellent competition! The winners will be announced Friday morning.

Homework
- Please read with your child at least 3 times a week.
- All children have been given a ZPD to help them identify the correct books for their reading level. Once your child has read their book, they will need to complete a quiz on it before getting a new one. These quizzes can be done either in school or at home on Accelerated Reader using the log-in codes found in their reading records.
