In English this week, Year 6 completed past SATs papers in Reading and SPAG to familiarise themselves with the layout ahead of May. After impressing their teachers with their outstanding progress, they moved on to cover the subjunctive mood and complete their newspaper articles detailing the first wave of evacuations.

Maths

This week we have revised and applied a range of calculation methods before looking at the nets of 3-D shapes.

Thematic Curriculum

This week, we have explored key events in the aftermath of Britain’s declaration of war, including learning about the Phoney war and propaganda.

 

We also enjoyed a range of fun activities on Wednesday as part of British Science Week including testing which biscuit is the best for dunking!

 

Next week we will focus on life on the Home Front.

 

Homework

- This term’s Thematic Curriculum grid is attached below.

- Please read with your child at least 3 times a week.

- Children should be playing TTRS at least 3 times a week to build their confidence and fluency with times table knowledge.

- Most children have now taken their Term 4 AR Star Reader assessment and their ZPD can be found on their AR account. They will also receive a sticker next week to help them identify the correct books for their reading level. Once your child has read their book, they will need to complete a quiz on it before getting a new one. These quizzes can be done either in school or at home on Accelerated Reader using the log-in codes found in their reading records.
