Mrs Danson recommends... 'The Girl of Ink and Stars' by Kiran Millwood Hargrave
It's a classic adventure with twists and turns and a bold, fearless heroine.
'The Girl of Ink and Stars' is a beautiful and gripping read! I read this book over Christmas and I could not put it down! It is a magical combination of sweetness and darkness expressed through a spellbinding world of magic, myth and adventure.
I would recommend for year 5 and 6 (adults and teachers too!)
Forbidden to leave her island, Isabella dreams of the faraway lands her cartographer father once mapped. When her friend disappears, she volunteers to guide the search. The world beyond the walls is a monster-filled wasteland - and beneath the dry rivers and smoking mountains, a fire demon is stirring from its sleep. Soon, following her map, her heart and an ancient myth, Isabella discovers the true end of her journey: to save the island itself.
Have fun reading this magical story!
