Chinese Art - Calligraphy
This week in art, we have looked at how Chinese artists used block printing to print repeated patterns and we recreated this ourselves using polystyrene tiles in class. We also discussed how a lot of ancient Chinese art focusses on poetry and how the art of writing - calligraphy - is also very important.
Your task this week is to have a go at Chinese calligraphy. The attachment below is an ancient Chinese poem by Li Bai - a poet from the Tang dynasty (618 - 906AD). We would like you to have a go at writing and decorating this poem in your books. Try using the Chinese characters! Chinese poems were often decorated with intricate images of nature, such as trees, mountains and rivers.
Best of luck and we can't wait to see your work!
