6B WOW Day! World War II Experience!
Yesterday, 6B had the most amazing day at Kent Life! The children all came dressed as evacuees and throughout the day took part in a number of different workshops which deepened our understanding of the event of World War II. In the morning, we joined the Home Guard. During this activity we learned how to march and follow instructions from an officer. After that we found out more about evacuation and wrote letters to our loved ones. After lunch, we were introduced to Rag Rug Making which we loved! Finally, we ended the day with an Air raid Warden who showed equipment from the actual War and we played a game to see who could put out the fake fire the quickest without dropping any water. We ended the day by looking at a house from WWII and seeing how it was protected with the taped glass as well as looking at the dig for victory garden. There was even a real life Anderson Shelter which was astonishing!
