21.06.23 Year 3 Weekly Update
This week in Year 3...
This week has been full of excitement in Year 3 from Diversity Day to Sports Day. The children performed brilliantly during Wednesday’s Sports Day; it was lovely to see them cheering each other on. Then, the school was an explosion of colour on Thursday as each class represented their country for Diversity Day.
English
This week we planned and wrote a letter from Wilbur the pig, detailing his escape ordeal. The children learnt about the present perfect tense and tried to use this new grammatical skill in their writing.
Present perfect is used to indicate an action that happened or started in the past and has some connection to the present and future.
He has escaped his pen.
We have arrived at the farm.
Next week, we will plan our own narrative.
Maths
This week we have explored associative law and used our understanding to multiply efficiently.
3 x 8 x 4
3 x 4 = 12
12 x 8 = 96
Next week we will continue our work solidifying the calculation methods we have covered this year.
Thematic Curriculum
This week in the afternoons we explored plants and their requirements for growth. On Thursday, we dissected flowers and learnt about their functions.
