This week we planned and started writing our own narrative detailing an animal escaping from the zoo. We are using this as an opportunity to showcase all of the writing skills we have covered this year.

Maths

This week has had a focus on thousands as we made, compared and rounded 4-digit numbers in readiness for the Year 4 curriculum.

Next week we will continue our work solidifying the calculation methods we have covered this year.

Thematic Curriculum

This week in the afternoons we learned about the threats facing the rainforest and created our own podcasts sharing our knowledge. The children worked in groups to research and write scripts including information about how we can help stop deforestation.

 Next week, we will create rainforest themed artwork.

 Homework

- Please read with your child at least 3 times a week.

- Children have now been given their log-in details for Times Table Rock Stars. They should be playing this at least 3 times a week to build their confidence and fluency with times table knowledge.

- Children have been given a ZPD to help them identify the correct books for their reading level. Once your child has read their book, they will need to complete a quiz on it before getting a new one. These quizzes can be done either in school or at home on Accelerated Reader using the log-in codes found in their reading records.
