TTRS Competition

This week, children will be taking part in a TTRS competition against the schools in the trust. Please encourage your children to play as much as they can! Year 4 would love to be champions!

In Maths this week, the children continued their learning about fractions. The children were learning about improper fractions and mixed numbers. They were learning methods to convert between the two. This week was also number day! The children in year 4 took part in a carousel around the teachers in year 4 to try out different maths activities. They made multiplication flowers, tesselated shapes, made graphs out of skittles, guessed the sweets in the jar and learnt about sequences. Next week, the children will be learning how to add and subtract numbers within one. 

In English, we have been writing our own narratives in the style of 'I survived Mount St Helens.' Next week, the children will be studying volcano themed poems and writing their own. They will also be using persuasive language to write a speech to answer, 'If I could change the world, I would...' 

In the afternoon, we built and tested our earthquake proof buildings. The children had great fun doing this! They then evaluated and thought about what they would change if they could do it again. We finished the week by creating presentations to express our learning from this term! 

Homework

Please see the homework menu attached. The children need to choose ONE activity each week that they would like to have a go at. There are 15 activities to choose from to provide a wide range of options. When they have completed a piece of homework, they can send it in either in the book, through photos or bringing something to share.

Please encourage your child to practise their times tables at home. TTRS is a great way to do this! 

Please ensure children are wearing the correct school uniform and shoes, including ties and lanyards.

Please ensure children bring in their water bottles.

As the colder weather continues, please ensure children have coats.
