Year 5 Weekly News 09.12.22

Key Messages:

• Monday is PE for all of Year 5. Please send the children in wearing their PE kit.
• Choir need to wear school uniform on Monday for their performance.
• Tuesday is the school pantomime trip. We will be eating lunch before we go. Please ensure that you send your child in with a water bottle, coat and snack for the trip. We will be arriving  back around 6, traffic dependent.
• Wednesday is Christmas dinner at school. If you wish for your child to have a Christmas dinner please book one.
• Thursday is our trip to the church for the Christmas concert. This will be done during school hours. 
  - On Friday school finishes at 2:15 as it is the last day of term. 
• Reminder to ensure children are reading at home and bringing in their reading records.
• Please ensure children are wearing correct school uniform and shoes.
• Please ensure children are bringing in their water bottles.

Home Learning: 

This week, we have been learning about the Shang Dynasty. This week we would like you to research another dynasty in Chinas history and present your findings in whatever way you wish. 

Homework is due in on WEDNESDAY.

 

Reading:

Minimum 3x a week. Reading record must be signed by an adult. Can be completed on your own or with your parents.

Spelling Shed: 

Once a week – Friday to Friday. 

Tasks will be completed online, with new tasks set every week.

Tasks will always follow the spellings being taught in class that week. 

 Times Tables Rock Stars:

Minimum 3x a week.

Can be completed on tablets, laptops or mobile phones though the app or the website.

English:

In English this week we finished our book and wrote a newspaper report about the firework festival. 
 

Next week will be consolidating our learning across the term. 

 

Maths:

This week in maths, we concluded our fractions unit and did our KIRFs assessments. Next week we will be consolidating our learning across the term and recapping key concepts from this year so far. 

 

Thematic Curriculum:

In our afternoon lessons this week we have been learning about the Shang dynasty and the hierarchy in Chinas history. 
 

Next week we will conclude our China unit with an end of unit quiz.
