English:
In English this week we continued with our text: Cosmic. We are loving the humorous undertones and how the relationships between characters are developing. The week started by us creating space nebulae using pastels and/or paint, which were used as a stimulus of our space description writing. Our focus was on using figurative language as well as expanded noun phrases and prepositions.
Next week we will continue to read the text and plan our own mishap story.
Maths:
This week in maths we continued with our angles focus. We calculated angles on a straight line and around a point, and learnt to draw angles accurately.
Next week we will look at lines and angles in 2D shapes as well as an introduction to 3D shapes.
Thematic Curriculum:
The afternoon curriculum this week has been very science heavy. We have looked into the order of the planets and calculated the relative sizes to compare with the sun. We learnt many fascinating facts and looked at the different models proposed by Ptolemy and Copernicus: the heliocentric and geocentric models of the solar system.
Next week we will continue with science as well as celebrating the King’s coronation.
