In English this week we continued with our text: Cosmic. In writing, the children continued their narratives and wrote poetry about stars. Next week, we will be writing a balanced argument about whether Liam, our main character, deserves to go to space using cohesive devices!
Maths:
This week in maths we concluded our shape unit. We explored regular and irregular polygons and 3D shapes before the children consolidated their learning during an end of unit quiz! Next week, we will be learning about co-ordinates and translating, whilst practising our arithmetic skills.
Thematic Curriculum:
The afternoon curriculum this week has continued with our science learning about the day and night cycle, as well as developing our knowledge of forces, such as air resistance. We concluded the week by exploring the history of space exploration, also known as the Space Race. The children were fantastic at examining a range of sources and discussing concepts such as validity.
Next week, we will be developing our geography knowledge by looking at views from space and giving the children an opportunity to use technology to locate geographical features.
We hope that you all have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing you on Monday!
