One Childhood - One Chance

Year 6 Weekly News: 17.05.24

What a week it has been!

Our Year 6 pupils have truly shown their mettle during this week’s SATs- the corridors and classrooms have been abuzz with determination, focus, and an incredible sense of camaraderie.

As parents, you can be immensely proud of how your children have approached their SATs; their attitudes have been nothing short of fabulous. Each morning, they arrived with positive energy and a readiness to tackle whatever the day had in store. Every single child has tried their absolute best, putting into practice everything they've learnt throughout their time at Upton. Their commitment and hard work have shone through, and it’s clear they’ve done themselves and their teachers proud. For this reason, the Year 6 adults have chosen all children as 'Pupils of the Week'. Well done Year 6, you stars!

The support from you, the parents, has also been invaluable; your encouragement and reassurance at home have played a crucial role in helping the children stay calm and focused. Together, as a community, we’ve provided them with the support they needed to succeed.

Now that SATs are behind us, it’s time for the children to enjoy the rest of their final term in Year 6. We have a whole host of exciting activities and events planned, which we can’t wait to get stuck into!

Here’s to a bright and exciting future for all our Year 6s!

Year 6 Production

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you! After much eager anticipation and behind-the-scenes planning, we can finally reveal that this year’s end-of-year production will be the beloved classic, Aladdin!

Today, we had our much-awaited 'Big Reveal' event, and it was a magical moment. The children gathered with bated breath as we unveiled the theme for our grand production. The excitement doesn’t end there… next week, we will be holding auditions for various roles in the production. Every child will have the opportunity to showcase their talents, whether it be acting, singing, or dancing. We are looking forward to discovering the unique abilities that each of our Year 6's will bring to the stage. Further details regarding the audition process, can be found in the attached letter, that went out this week.

Props

With preparations already underway, we are seeking any unwanted items that Year 6 could use as props for their production. If you have any of the following items at home, please send them in with your child next week:

  • Patterned/colourful scarfs, blankets

  • Old jewellery

  • Plastic food

  • Wicker baskets

  • Items that could be used as 'treasure'

  • Lanterns

  • Flying carpets

  • Magic lamps

  • Anything else you think could be helpful for our production of Aladdin

As we look forward to the next term, the anticipation for Aladdin really is palpable; the production promises to be a wonderful opportunity for our children to develop new skills, build confidence, and create lasting memories. We can’t wait to see the magic they will bring to the stage!

Let’s make this end-of-year production a truly unforgettable experience for our children.
