Fun Filled Maths Day
When it comes to a love of Maths and a desire to help children at risk you can always count upon of Upton Juniors in Broadstairs.
Once again the school pulled out all the stops to promote the awareness of the vital work of the NSPCC child safety charity through its annual numbers day that is also an opportunity to experience the fun and creativity of maths.
The day began with an assembly that discussed the importance of the NSPCC’s charity work and celebrated Maths by giving out our pupil of the term maths certificates.
To add colour to the day pupils were invited to dress as a digit or as one of their favourite Times Table Rock Star characters in exchange for a donation which has so far raised £244.67.
Throughout the day pupils enjoyed a range of fun, interactive Maths activities such as escape rooms, using treasure maps and mathematical art and music to celebrate the importance of the core subject.
Maths lead Maisie Prescott said: “It has been truly wonderful to see the children so enthusiastic about their Maths learning during Number Day.
“They were engaged in a wide range of hands-on activities and games, and it has been fantastic to witness their excitement for learning and Maths.”
Head of School Darci Arthur added: “The children loved all the varying tasks and challenges. They really enjoyed tackling the activities that helped further develop their knowledge and their learning skills.
“The staff delivered the whole programme with such enthusiasm and fun; and Upton once again supported a thoroughly worthwhile cause, this time the NSPCC that is an extremely important charity.”
Upton Junior School is part of the Viking Academy Trust with Chilton Primary School and Ramsgate Arts Primary School.
