Upton Junior’s Year 6 group made a real song and dance about leaving school this summer – with a sparkling musical production rated as one of the best produced by the school.

The production of Aladdin staged at St Lawrence College was an energy-packed extravaganza full of musical favourites, singing, acting and dancing.

Months of hard work, preparation and rehearsal ensured a fantastic finale for the Year 6 team to bring the curtain down on their educational journey through Upton.

Head of School Darci Arthur said: “It was an unforgettable dazzling show and is one of the best we have seen produced by our Year 6 children, staff and a whole host of helpers.

“The costumes were nothing short of phenomenal. From the vibrant colours and intricate designs to the careful attention to detail, every costume brought the characters to life in the most magical way.

“The children have poured their hearts into rehearsing their lines, perfecting their choreography, and fine-tuning their musical numbers; their commitment and talent have shone brightly, making every rehearsal and performance a testament to their dedication and passion for the arts.

“These performances were not just a showcase of their talent but also a celebration of their teamwork, perseverance, and creativity.”

A hectic end of term for Year 6 will see pupils take centre stage again, with their final days at Upton celebrated with the leavers’ assembly with parents invited to join in festivities. There will also be a Year 6 leavers’ party after school including tasty treats and attractions like the 75ft ‘party time’ assault course, 60ft ‘boot camp’ assault obstacle, and inflatable slides. On the final day of term the Year 6 pupils take part in a shirt-signing session on the field where they can write farewell messages to their friends.
