PSHE
Intent:
At Upton we intend to ensure that school doesn’t simply start and end with academia for our children. Instead we aim to support our pupils across many differing aspects of their lives with the goal of helping them to become well-rounded individuals with strong character, who will eventually go out into the world of adults and be actively and positively involved in society. In order to do this, not only do we strive to create a conducive environment around the school but have also created our own specific Personal Development Curriculum that is entwined with our academic curricula. Key indicators of Personal Development are identified and specific learning is targeted. Personal Safety; Mental Health and Wellbeing; Enrichment; British Values; Cultural Diversity; Pupil Voice; Leadership; PSHE; Moral and Ethical Debates and Community Orientated Climate are some of the things we plan specifically and regularly to include.
We want to develop our pupils' moral compass, their social skills, their ability to reflect and consider, and engender an appreciation of cultural diversity both locally and further afield. We aim to promote British Values and our own Core Values both within our curriculum and through daily interactions as key skills children will need in the next stages of both their education and their life.
