Within History, as in all areas of the Curriculum, we aim for children to know more, do more, remember more.

We value History because it is the study of the past and we feel this is essential for our pupils to help build a respect for its people, for diversity, and an appreciation of how historians make sense of the past. This knowledge is a form of cultural capital  

We aim to cover the national curriculum objectives for history & to ensure pupils retain historical knowledge. In addition to this, we also add units of our own that allow us to expand upon disciplinary skills and secondary order concepts to enable children to understand how a historian works and apply this themselves.

We are proud to live in our local area and ensure that we explore its rich History. From Crampton Tower, to Dickens House, to the Callis Court Smuggling gang, wartime tunnels, to the history of Dreamland, studying local history helps pupils appreciate their own community more.

We hope that from our teaching pupils can take away a chronology and understanding of how we have been influenced by the past.
