Termly Home Learning Task - Term 2: Walk Like an Egyptian

This term in Year 4 we are exploring the Ancient Egyptians - how they lived and significant events and figures from the time. We would like the children to delve into the topic during their home learning by exploring one of these tasks, or a related task of their choosing. They may present their work in any way that they wish; it could be a presentation, poster, or something that they make, the possibilities are endless. If something is physically created, please can this be brought in or a photo stuck into books so we can celebrate the children’s success!

Please bring in any Thematic homework before the end of term.

English:

In English this week we have focused on poetry. This included reading and performing poems, talking about poems with our classmates and writing our own haikus and alphabet poems based on Ancient Egypt.

Next week, we will write a set of instructions for mummification.

Maths:

This week in maths we completed our unit on discrete and continuous data by exploring more time graphs and drawing our own using two sets of data plotted on one set of axes.

Next week we will be consolidating our maths learning through Christmas-related activities.

Thematic Curriculum:

This week during our afternoon lessons, we explored food chains and how we can classify animals based on whether they are vertebrates or invertebrates. We also looked at Hindu beliefs during our RE lesson.

Next week we will continue to look at how Hindus worship, during our RE afternoon.

Christmas Fair:

2,100+ Christmas Thank You Stock Photos, Pictures & Royalty ...

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came to support Upton and the Christmas fair this afternoon. It was great to see so many adults and the children absolutely loved the experience. Thank you also for the generous donations to the raffle and tombola, and for supplying the goods for the children’s stalls.
