This week, we introduced our new text, 'Anglo-Saxon Boy.' We spent the week focusing on ambitious vocabulary to write a descriptive narrative opener. Next week, we will be continuing the text and using art as a stimulus for writing a setting description of an Anglo-Saxon farm. Our spelling focus for the week will be the -cious and -tious sounds.
Maths
This week, we began our journey of fractions and decimals. The children have been drawing, identifying and naming fractions and finding equivalent fractions. Next week, the children will be finding tenths and hundredths as fractions, introducing decimals and comparing fractions and decimals.
Thematic
On Monday, we began our week with a STEM day. The children learnt about a range of jobs in science. The children have also learnt about budgeting, critical consumers and ethical spending. They were given a budget and had to choose how to spend this based on the cost of housing, savings and essentials. We also introduced our new topic, 'Marvels of Matter' this week. We learnt how the Anglo-Saxons came to Britain and why. Next week, we are going to be learning about the kings and kingdoms during the Anglo-Saxon reign.

These quizzes can be done either in school or at home on Accelerated Reader using the log-in codes found in their reading records.
