Term 3 Week 6
English
This week, the children have learnt the story of Beowulf and retold it in their own words. They have also created an information leaflet about Canterbury Cathedral. Using the knowledge they have learnt, they created a persuasive leaflet to encourage children to visit the cathedral. The focus was using modal verbs to persuade. In PAG this week, the children were learning about colons and how they are used in writing. Next term, we will be starting our new class text, Who Let the Gods Out which links to our topic of Gods and Mortals.
Maths
This week, the children have completed the first week of angles. They have classified angles, measured angles and calculated them. Next term, we will be continuing our angles learning and introduce percentages.
Thematic
This week, the children have been learning about Buddhism in RE. The children have learnt about the eightfold path and the four Noble Truths. On Wednesday, the children visited a local church, St Peters in Thanet. They participated in a treasure hunt to find key features of the church. We discussed how many of the features could also be found in Canterbury Cathedral. Next term, we will start the term with PSHE, with a focus on kindness.
