One Childhood - One Chance

20.12.24 Year 5 Weekly News

Final week of term!

Merry Christmas to you all from year 5! It has been a fun-packed, exciting term and we have thoroughly enjoyed our learning!

Next term we will be kicking off the term with PD week, focusing on STEM. The children will be participating in a range of activities linking to budgeting, spending and saving!

Our topic next term will be 'Marvels of Matter,' and we will study the Anglo-Saxons. We will be learning how they settled in Britain, the different kingdoms and how they were invaded. Alongside this, our science will link to the water cycle, grouping materials and the acidity of rocks.

In English next term, our text will be, 'Anglo-Saxon Boy' by Tony Bradman. We will follow the journey of Magnus through the Battle of 1066 and how his father was defeated during his fight for the throne.

In maths, we will be starting the term with fractions. We will represent them in a range of ways, find equivalent fractions and order them on a number line.

We wish you a Merry Christmas and hope you have a wonderful rest over this break.

See you in 2025!
