Can you believe this week marks the mid-point of Year 6; we are halfway there! Have a lovely half term and we will see you back on Monday 24th February.
English
In English, this week we composed our own quatrain poem inspired by ‘Skellig’ and William Blake’s work. We then wrote a balanced argument, exploring the question; ‘Which is more important, your heart or your brain?’. Year 6 also enjoyed a showing of the film version of ‘Skellig’.
Maths
This week we continued our work on decimals and measures with a focus on finding the volume of cubes and cuboids before converting between miles and kilometres.
Thematic Curriculum
This week had a R.E focus as we explored the Buddhist faith and its beliefs and symbols.
Homework
- Please read with your child at least 3 times a week.
- Children should be playing TTRS at least 3 times a week to build their confidence and fluency with times table knowledge.
- Children have taken their Term 3 AR Star Reader assessment and their ZPD can be found on their AR account. They will also receive a sticker next week to help them identify the correct books for their reading level. Once your child has read their book, they will need to complete a quiz on it before getting a new one. These quizzes can be done either in school or at home on Accelerated Reader using the log-in codes found in their reading records.
- Mathletics homework has also been set for the children to complete by next Friday.
